Hail Hail Rock and Roll

I went to Best Buy today and found Hail Hail Rock and Roll as a four disc set. It includes amazing footage from this amazing movie. I would highly suggest it. There are unedited interviews with Jerry Lee Lewis, Sam Phillips and many others.

I haven't been able to view it all because there is so much footage. My favorite scene in the movie is when Richards can't play the intro to a tune and he gets shot down by Berry. I also love the comments by Eric Clapton. He knows the history of American guitar. There are some great bonus footage interviews. I have yet to get to Sam Phillips, but the Jerry Lee Lewis interview and the Bo Diddly interview are amazing and they are all uncut. You get to see how these guys really are behind the scenes. Jerry Lee Lewis' scene ends with him wanting to punch the camera man. Throughout the interview he makes sure the women in the next room are still close. It's hilarious, but his bravado is amazing. He lays claim to everything, including payola.

Bo Diddly talks about his rhythm playing and he states how he started as a drummer and the rhythm was "from Africa or somthin'" It's nice to hear him speak on the subject of clave and not know what it is. Like Luis Conte says "Everything is clave".
